Lara Dutta is an Indian actress and model. She appeared in many films and was crowned Miss Universe in 2000 after winning the Femina Miss India Universe title.

Lara Dutta was born on April 16, 1978, in India to Indian father,L.K., and Scottish mother, Jennifer. When she was three years old, her family moved to Bangalore, where she finished High School. She then went on to graduate from Bombay University with a major in economics and minor in communications.

Lara claimed a four year contract with cosmetic giant L'oreal after winning a model search tournament in India. She won the Femina Miss India Universe title, which qualified her to compete in the 2000 Miss Universe Pageant in Cyprus. The confident and beautiful Indian girl came, saw and conquered the spotlight on the Mediterranean Island. Lara became the second Indian woman to capture the Miss Universe title.

Off the spotlight, Lara enjoys classical dance, reading autobiographies and extreme sports such as rock climbing and bungee jumping.
